Welcome to County Durham Woodland Education Service or CDWES for short.

We operate bushcraft and woodland experience activities for people from all walks of life and levels of experience.

Learn how to build shelters, forage for food and light fires using the skills of our ancestors.

We run 1 day introduction to bushcraft courses and 2 day 1 night survival courses.

For those wanting to explore the subject of bushcraft for the first time we offer 1 day introduction courses.  The course looks at the basics for survival.  The cost per person is £25.

Group one day courses for schools and youth organisations cost £175 per group.

For those wanting a longer introduction to bushcraft we offer a two day one night course.  This allows us to cover subjects in more detail. The cost per person is £75 this include all equipment need such as sleeping bag, hammock, basha and cook set as well a 24 hour army style ration pack.

In conjunction with Lazer Wars we can also run overnight combined courses with a military theme.

All courses run in our privately owned woodland just 6 miles from the center of Durham.
