Our privately owned woodland just 6 miles from Durham city has been developed and enhanced to meet the needs of all age groups.
Activities have been developed to meet the needs of the Learning Outside the Classroom manifesto and delivered locally in an environmentally friendly sustainable way. this makes us well positioned to meet your schools needs.
The woodland boasts several clearings which are specially designed for multi activity use such as:
- Shelter Building
- Nature Studies
- Bushcraft
- Fire Lighting
- Tools Skills
- Teambuilding
- Plant identification and uses
- Green Woodworking
- Environmental Studies
- Art and Crafts
The clearings are linked by a network of trails which can be explored by groups or used for more organised activities such as orienteering and map making.
Activities have may cross curricular links and can enhance experiential learning.
All activities are supervised by our qualified and experienced staff.
Your day will be planned to meet your exact requirements, but examples of a typical day are:-

- · Toilet visit and snack break
- · Issue of safety vests, gloves and goggles
- · Activity 1
- · Meet at agreed location for debrief
- · Short break
- · Activity 2
- · Meet at reception for debrief and toilet visits before heading to camp site for lunch
- · Activity 3
- · Meet at agreed location for debrief
- · Activity 4
- · Meet at agreed location for debrief and head for home
Activities can be planned to enhance current learning subjects, and can be lengthened or shortened to suit your exact requirements.
We can also operate on your site enhancing natural materials available as we have done recently for a school looking at the indigenous people of Tanzania and how they live from the land.
